The World Medicine Research and Development Laboratory was awarded the R&D Center Certificate by the Ministry of Science, Industry and Technology in 2015. Active studies are conducted in the WM R&D CENTER (WMARGE) in the following functional areas:
Studies for National Incentive Programs (TÜBİTAK – TEYDEB)
A total of seven Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey TÜBİTAK TEYDEB 1501 Industry R&D Projects have been completed, with a focus on Therapeutic groups, Antineoplastics and Immunomodulator agents, Digestive System and Metabolism, Iron Chelator Agents and Corticosteroids (Glucocorticoids).
Activities carried out under the SANTEZ scheme administered by the Ministry of Industry and Technology:
- Work on seven projects, including three for dry powder inhalers (DPI) and four for measured dose aerosol inhalers (MDI) was completed for the treatment of asthma and COPD.
- Work on three SANTEZ projects was completed in the lyophilized field for the treatment of Pneumonitis, Pelvic Inflammation and Gastritic ulcers.
Our Prizes
World Medicine received the award for being The Firm With The Most International Trademark Applications from our President, Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, in recognition of World Medicine’s 3,000 trademark applications and patent applications in the "4th Turkish Patent Awards" night held at Our WMARGE Center in 2015.
According to the 2022 R&D 250 research study conducted by Turkishtime magazine, a reference for R&D carried out by companies in Turkey, World Medicine achieved the following rankings;
- 88th among all companies in terms of the amount of funding allocated to R&D, and was ranked 8th among pharmaceutical companies.
- 1st among pharmaceutical companies on the basis of the number of projects carried out in its R&D Center, and 2rd among all sectors in Turkey.
- 3rd in terms of the number of Undergraduate and Graduate Personnel Working in the R&D Center among pharmaceutical companies, and 32th among all sectors in Turkey.
- 4th on the basis of the Number of Female Personnel Working in the R&D Center among pharmaceutical companies and 30th among all sectors in Turkey.
- 12th on the basis of the Number of Patents Obtained in the R&D Center among pharmaceutical companies and 44th among all sectors in Turkey.
- 9th in terms of the number of patents among OSBs, according to the OSBUK 2020 "STARS OF OSB" study.
- 10th in terms of R&D spending among OSBs.

The Product Development Department, one of the units affiliated with our World Medicine R&D Center, was founded with an innovative perspective and is responsible for the design of innovative product processes with its wide product portfolio, which will provide technological and scientific contributions to our country backed by our productive, agile and innovative employees affiliated to our R&D Center. The products developed at World Medicine are transferred from the World Medicine facility in Istanbul to the production facilities in Cerkezkoy, our production facilities in Algeria and Romania as well as our foreign subsidiaries in line with our strategic marketing plan. Click for details.
The functions of our CTD Department include processes such as preparation and control of the quality modules for the license files in accordance with the CTD format; the checking, preparation and tracking of the Ministry analysis samples and documents; the checking of all documents submitted to the CTD and the Technical documentation division ahead of submission to the Ministry; the checking of answers to the Ministry’s questions from the authorities and conducting the follow-up processes (domestic and foreign); and the preparation and control of the technical variation documents in accordance with the Updated variation guidelines.
The Patent division oversees patent research and evaluation processes, national and international patent application and legal processes regarding such rights, and works with specialized and experienced patent lawyers to protect intellectual property rights.
WM R&D Clinical Research performs the clinical study operations for the equivalences of generic products developed in the WM R&D department, which constitute more economical alternatives in enhancing human health and quality of life to the highest standards in accordance with the international and national legal regulations, legislation and ethical guidelines.
The Project Operations Unit carries out activities to oversee the planning, organization, provision and management of the resources in order to achieve and conclude the targets and purposes of any specific project.
Each WM project is followed in all phases in order to achieve a specific, unique target and purpose, to convert it into a useful product and to provide added value. The Unit aims to effectively manage the process, starting from the determination of the WM Projects to the implementation of the project while addressing any shortcomings, thus launching the products set out in the projects to the market for public use at the earliest opportunity.
Overview of the Division’s activities:
• To check the compliance of the performance of projects with the regulations set out by the Ministry of Industry and to ensure that the functions of the R&D CENTER are performing in accordance with the requirements of the Ministry of Industry.
• To ensure the Projects in different lines comply with the completion dates, and to report their compliance.
• To check and ensure the completion of the required processes ahead of license application for projects where R&D processes have been completed.
